The cooling system is comprised of many parts that work together to dissipate and remove heat from the vehicle’s engine preventing the engine from overheating. Antifreeze is a helping agent that absorbs excess heat and is released when the engine reaches its maximum operating temperatures, and also aides other engine fluids from boiling or freezing. Over time, antifreeze loses its efficiency and breaks down, so it is important to have it drained and replaced regularly to avoid corrosion. During an inspection, we will make sure the cooling fan is working properly and all belts and hoses are intact and without dangerous wear, causing damage to the engine and radiator. Ultimately, neglecting basic cooling system and radiator maintenance can lead to a potential radiator replacement and major engine or radiator repairs down the road.
